The Parody Movie Trailer For 'Airboarders' Is The Best Video You Will Watch All Day

Thats only $5 million less than 2 Guns, one of the movies that trounced Smurfs on opening weekend, and Smurfs did far better overseas. The original action movie 2 Guns, starring Denzel Washington and Mark Whalburg, received a 64 percent positive rating from professional movie critics on Rotton Tomatoes, a review-gathering website. The Smurfs 2 received a 12 percent positive rating. But Hollywood pays attention to box office numbers, not reviews, and The Smurfs 2 ended up earning more money. Grown Ups 2, the Adam Sandler-helmed sequel that received only a 7 percent positive rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, proved even more financially successful over the long term. This isnt to say that all sequels are bad.

Movie stars happily flocking to TV

And right now, audiences are in love with television. Truly, madly, deeply, and in ways difficult to sustain in film or the theater. Episodic television is regularly deconstructed in a way once reserved for Shakespeare or the Romantic poets. Meanwhile, the people creating the shows we're all mad for are similarly lionized. TV stars are the new movie stars, so of course movie stars want a piece of the action.

Navy warships. Pirates hadn't captured an American vessel since the early 1800s, and the outcome hinged on the actions and decisions of a single blue-collar Everyman, a veteran merchant mariner named Capt. Richard Phillips. One of those people who thought it sounded like a Hollywood film happened to be Tom Hanks, soanow it is one. When Hanks signed on to star, the two-time Oscar winner also helped recruit director Paul Greengrass, who'd previously made a film about a true-life hijacking with the 9/11 movie United 93. Greengrass held an open call in Minnesota and Ohio to cast the hijackers, and the four leads went to Somali immigrants who had never acted professionally before: Barkhad Abdi, Faysal Ahmed, Barkhad AbdiRahman, and Mahat M. Ali.

Billed as an "official movie trailer" and released to Youtube by Bath Boys Comedy group , a nearly 4 minute video for "Airboarders" may be the most hilarious video you watch all day. The video is pitch-perfect parody of a movie trailer, starting with a group of friends driving, when one in the backseat discovers a business card and shows off tricks he can pull with it outside the car window. "I call it airboarding," he says, before the driver stops to say the move was incredible. The video continues to build, showing the epic rise of the group of friends in the "sport" before their eventual falling out. It ends with one insulting another, asking, "are you a man or are you just a bunch of business cards looking like a man?" It's worth watching the entire thing (some language):

Musician makes his kim kardashian bio Hollywood debut

He would give actors and musicians a means to invest in tech startups, and then leverage those relationships to garner brand endorsements and other entertainment industry goodies for his portfolio companies. Perfect celebrity symbiosis. But the strategy undergone a major transformation, as #DominateFund continues to raise its debut fund (which was originally targeting just $5 million). Namely, the Hollywood angle has been deemphasized, in favor of a viral marketing angle. It's also lost the hashtag (although that's not yet reflected on the firm's bare-bones website ). "As we began getting pitched by more and more entrepreneurs, we learned that the Hollywood stuff was a very minor reason why they were interested in us," explains Parr. "What they really want is a team that understands that world, but also has deep experience in viral marketing and media." Parr believes he fills that "media" piece, thanks to his experience at Mashable.

Why Hollywood's Anti-War Voices are Quiet on Syria

I was playing a solo set on my charango at a concert last winter where Jeffrey D Brown happened to be. I had just finished recording my album then view and wasn't sure if I was going to play at this concert as I didn't have a band. I went ahead thinking this could also be an opportunity for me to perform a solo set. He really liked what I played and soon after got in touch with me through some common friends. He was shooting a section of his film, Sold , in Kolkata then.

Natives beat down 'Hollywood Indian' image

They're going to want to be Glen Gould. Okay maybe not Glen." Gould likened the rise of native cinema to a return to tradition. "Traditionally in our communities, we had storytellers way way back when. When film came around, our stories were dictated by non-native people, so we had Italians playing Indians," he said, adding that he would like to now play an Italian mafioso in a movie. "But now we have this wave of aboriginal writers and storytellers." Aboriginal activists have long complained that the so-called Hollywood Indian neither mirrors Native American contemporary reality nor their historical past. Acclaimed Abenaki documentary filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin, who returned to the festival with "Hi-Ho Mistahey," said audiences are more open to real stories about natives.

Did it matter? Is George Bush being tried in the high courts of justice?" asks Asner. "We've been so God-damned stung in this country by false wars, repeatedly, that, how can you believe in any just war with the history we have had?" Another reason some Hollywood progressives have been reticent to speak out against war in Syria, according to Asner, is fear of being called racist. "A lot of people don't want to feel anti-black by being opposed to Obama," he said. Asner said Hollywood activists should read a Huffington Post blog item by Dennis Kucinich, where the former congressman lists the "Top 10 unproven claims for war against Syria." "Whether it's a Republican or Democrat president, or Republican or Democrat Congress -- and it doesn't make a God-damned difference -- it behooves us to get off our ass and ask these questions," Asner said. Farrell and Asner both say that beating the war drums on Syria is one of many mistakes Obama has made. "I voted for him, but I'm not proud.

Movie review: Coming-of-age drama Something in the Air as much biopic as treatise on misguided youth

Everything about it stinks, from the sophomoric writing to the sleep-inducing performances. But even more frightening is the feeling that the torture being inflicted by the writing-directing team of Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon will never end. It just goes on and on sans any semblance of cleverness and spontaneity. It bills itself as a parody, but why pick on good movies like Rosemarys Baby and The Exorcist when there are so many awful horror pictures ripe to be ripped to shreds? But attempting to read logic into this turkey is foolhardy at best.

Of course, thatas not really the end. Gilles is an aspiring artist whose father is in the film business, a biography not that much different from that of Assayas himself: what really comes at the end of Something in the Air is Something in the Air, a thinly veiled biopic about the perils and rewards Kim Kardashian images of youth. Itas a subject ripe for satire, but Assayas treats it seriously. The original title of the film is Apres Mai: itas about the generation coming of age just after the French uprisings of May, 1968, when the country was shut down by protests. Gilles and his friends are part of that revolutionary spirit even if theyare a little too late for it.

Hollywood and Silicon Valley take piracy battle to Patent Office

In the past two years, eight out of 11 superhero films earned between 58 and 66 percent of ticket sales outside the United States. Those foreign returns are now underwriting the future of lucrative franchises, say analysts. The stakes are high. Disney Studios will spend billions to produce Marvel movies with intertwined storylines over the coming years. Warner Bros. looks prepared to follow suit with its DC Comics properties. "It's a recipe for success, but a recipe that has to have ingredients from all over the world," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Hollywood.com 's box-office division.
